OYAMA, Japan Nissan has kicked off its countdown to NISMO Festival at Japan's Fuji International Speedway supported by Motul.

Held on December 11, this will be the 19th running of NISMO Festival that brings together the stars and cars from Nissan's global motorsport activities – both past and present.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Fuji Speedway, vintage Nissan race cars with history on the circuit will be on display and run on the course.

Along with this, currently active Nissan race car drivers from Japan and abroad, team principals and legendary former drivers will converge on Fuji to take part in fan events and autograph sessions.

The Nissan Micra Cup, Canada's most affordable racing series, will also be featured at this year's NISMO festival, marking the first time that it will be recognized by NISMO at a global level. NISMO has been involved in the Nissan Micra Cup since its inaugural season in 2015, providing the suspension kit for all race cars on the track. NISMO's involvement in the Nissan Micra Cup also streams from the Nissan International GT Academy, which entered two drivers – respectively hailing from India and Thailand – in the 2015 season. In 2016, the Nissan GT Academy team tapped Nic Hammann, 2014 Nissan GT Academy U.S. winner, to compete in the Micra Cup's second season. Nic Hammann's Nissan Micra Cup race car will be on display alongside the other star cars at the NISMO festival.

To commemorate the end of season event, NISMO has commenced its #NISMOmemts countdown on social media – highlighting 23 key achievements from the 2016 season on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Star drivers on site will include Super GT GT500 2016 race winners Tsugio Matsuda, Ronnie Quintarelli, JP de Oliveira, Hironobu Yasuda, Masataka Yanagida and Daiki Sasaki.
