As the leader in bringing zero emission mobility to the mass market, Nissan Canada congratulates the Government of British Columbia for its announcement of incentives for BC residents who purchase an electric vehicle.

As of December 1st, 2011, the all-electric Nissan LEAF™ is eligible for the full $5,000 incentive, and the program also offers a rebate of up to $500 per unit for residential electric charging stations. The Province has also committed $6.5 million in infrastructure funding for electric vehicle charging points and upgrading existing hydrogen fuelling stations so owners of electric and other clean energy vehicles will have more charging and fuelling options.

"We’re thrilled by this announcement that makes zero-emission mobility even more attainable for BC residents who have already demonstrated their desire for alternative mobility solutions,” said Ian Forsyth, Director or Corporate Planning and Business Strategy, Nissan Canada Inc. “British Columbia was the first province to enter into an agreement with Nissan in Canada to promote electric vehicles as the best way to combat automotive related CO2 emissions. We’re so pleased that zero emission cars like the Nissan LEAF™ are accessible to even more people through this program.”

Nissan is the first automaker committed to making affordable, all-electric vehicles available to the mass market globally. To date Nissan has sold approximately 100 Nissan LEAFs™ in Canada and over 17,000 worldwide. Currently Nissan LEAF™ is available through an online reservation process to those registered at www.nissan.ca/leaf and living with 65 kilometres of an EV-certified Nissan dealer.

The Nissan LEAFÔ is a medium-size hatchback that seats five adults comfortably and has a range of 160 kilometres (based on U.S. EPA LA4 cycle) on one full charge to satisfy real-world consumer requirements. It is available starting at an MSRP of $38,395 (before incentives).
