Nissan Records Strong September Sales in Europe

  • Continued strong performance for leading crossovers Qashqai and Juke
  • Market Share September 2013 - 4.0%, in line with 2012
  • Russia and UK remain high performing markets

ROLLE, Switzerland – Nissan in Europe has announced sales of 66,303 units in September. For the calendar year-to-date Nissan's sales in Europe hit 480,709 units, boosted by the ever-popular crossovers Qashqai and Juke.

Nissan's results in September 2013 show a steady performance across all markets, notably in the UK where Nissan has a strong manufacturing footprint, sales increased over 400% on last month.  Other top performing markets for Nissan in September were Russia with over 15,000 sales up 15% year on year, and France with more than 5,700 sales.

Across the Nissan model range sales were directly in line with 2013 figures contributing to the healthy 4.0% market share across the region. Accumulative market share from January to September 2013 stands at 3.5%.

Nissan's European order bank unsurprisingly continues to be driven by Qashqai, Juke and X-Trail. September stars also include the newly refreshed Nissan Micra, which is already proving extremely popular with European customers with sales up year on year.

Another revamped model in the Nissan line-up, the all-electric Nissan LEAF, recorded 1,175 units sold in September. These European sales contributed to the global milestone hit this month with over 83,000 units sold since the launch.

"Nissan continues to buck the trend in Europe by demonstrating strong month-on-month sales and significant growth across many of our flagship models," said Nissan Europe Vice President Sales Operations, Raoul Picello. "In the month that we unveiled the new X-Trail at Frankfurt Motor Show, the popularity of Nissan's Crossover family remains as strong as ever and our newly refreshed small car segment models Note and Micra are continuing to boost sales. We have successfully maintained our overall market share, and in some key countries including Russia, we continue to make significant gains over a very strong 2012."
