Nissan Production, Sales and Export Results for December and Calendar Year 2012

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for December and the calendar year 2012.

1. Production

December
Nissan's global production in December decreased 13.6% year-on-year to 343,253 units.

Production in Japan decreased 23.3% year-on-year to 87,627 units, mainly due to the rebound in production last year after the impact of the earthquake in Japan.

Production outside of Japan decreased 9.8% year-on-year to 255,626 units.

In the U.S., production increased 12.6% year-on-year to 49,664 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Pathfinder.

In Mexico, production decreased 11.5% year-on-year to 40,358 units.

In the U.K., production decreased 10.8% year-on-year to 31,655 units.

In Spain, production decreased 0.8% year-on-year to 8,146 units.

In China, production decreased 32.5% year-on-year to 73,930 units.

Production in other regions increased 28.5% year-on-year to 51,873 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Sylphy in Thailand and Sunny in India.

Calendar Year 2012
Nissan's global production in 2012 increased 5.5% year-on-year to 4,889,379 units, achieving an all-time calendar year record.

Production in Japan increased 3.2% year-on-year to 1,148,265 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Note and Serena.

Overseas production increased 6.3% year-on-year to 3,741,114 units, reaching a record high for a calendar year.

In the U.S., production increased 14.6% year-on-year to 644,695 units.

In Mexico, production increased 12.6% year-on-year to 683,661 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

In the U.K., production increased 6.3% year-on-year to 510,572 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

In Spain, production decreased 7.5% year-on-year to 143,165 units.

In China, production decreased 6.2% year-on-year to 1,161,168 units.

Production in other regions increased 25.4% year-on-year to 597,853 units, mainly due to increased demand in India, Thailand and Indonesia.

2. Sales

December
Global sales in December decreased 8.6% year-on-year to 399,828 units.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 39,038 units in Japan, a decrease of 13.6% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in December decreased 8.9% year-on-year to 31,095 units, mainly due to decreased demand for older models, which offset the robust sales of new models including the new Note, which was ranked as the third best-selling registered vehicle in Japan.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan decreased 28.0% year-on-year to 7,943 units.

Sales outside of Japan decreased 8.0% year-on-year to 360,790 units.

Sales in the U.S. decreased 1.6% year-on-year to 99,290 units.

In Europe, sales decreased 10.6% year-on-year to 51,405 units.

In China, sales decreased 24.0% year-on-year to 90,425 units.

Sales in other regions increased 9.8% year-on-year to 86,349 units, mainly due to increased sales in Thailand.

Calendar Year 2012
Global sales in 2012 increased 5.8% year-on-year to 4,940,133 units, setting an all-time calendar year record.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 659,756 units in Japan, up 11.6% year-on-year.

In Japan, Nissan's vehicle registrations in 2012 increased 13.6% year-on-year to 506,421 units, mainly due to increased sales of the new Note, NV350 Caravan and Serena.

Domestic sales of mini-vehicles were up 5.4% on the previous year to 153,335 units, reaching a record high for a calendar year.

Sales outside of Japan increased 4.9% year-on-year to 4,280,377 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

In the U.S., sales increased 9.5% year-on-year to 1,141,656 units, marking an all-time calendar year record.

In Europe, sales decreased 2.4% year-on-year to 678,697 units.

In China, sales decreased 5.3% year-on-year to 1,181,530 units.

Sales in other regions increased 21.1% year-on-year to 949,388 units, mainly due to increased sales in Thailand, Brazil, India and Australia.

3. Japan Exports

December
Nissan's exports in December decreased 16.8% year-on-year to 65,730 units.

Exports to North America decreased 20.7% year-on-year to 41,817 units.

Exports to Europe decreased 10.1% year-on-year to 7,085 units.

Calendar Year 2012
Nissan's exports for the calendar year 2012 decreased 5.8% year-on-year to 674,580 units.

Exports to North America increased 3.5% year-on-year to 426,464 units.

Exports to Europe decreased 22.4% year-on-year to 77,456 units.
