Nissan Production, Sales and Export Results for January 2013

2013 Nissan Pathfinder

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for January 2013.

1. Production
Nissan's global production in January increased 3.6% year-on-year to 403,166 units, marking an all-time record for the month of January.

Production in Japan decreased 26.4% year-on-year to 70,698 units.

Production outside of Japan increased 13.4% year-on-year to 332,468 units, marking an all-time record for the month of January.

In the U.S., production increased 6.1% year-on-year to 56,459 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Pathfinder.

In Mexico, production increased 5.1% year-on-year to 65,286 units, mainly due to increased demand for Versa (known as the Latio in Japan) and the new Sentra (Sylphy in Japan).

In the U.K., production decreased 4.9% year-on-year to 42,669 units.

In Spain, production decreased 7.3% year-on-year to 12,794 units.

In China, production increased 32.4% year-on-year to 99,571 units.

Production in other regions increased 26.8% year-on-year to 55,689 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Sylphy in Thailand and Micra in India.

2. Sales
Global sales in January increased 7.0% year-on-year to 406,081 units, marking an all-time record for the month of January.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 56,407 units in Japan, up 6.5% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in January increased 11.5% year-on-year to 44,205 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Note and the new Sylphy. The new Note was ranked as the third best-selling registered vehicle in Japan in January.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan decreased 8.5% year-on-year to 12,202 units.

Sales outside of Japan increased 7.1% year-on-year to 349,674 units, marking an all-time record for the month of January.

Sales in the U.S. increased 2.0% year-on-year to 80,919 units.

In Europe, sales decreased 13.9% year-on-year to 47,449 units.

In China, sales increased 22.2% year-on-year to 115,732 units, marking an all-time record for the month of January.

Sales in other regions increased 8.6% year-on-year to 79,600 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Almera (Latio in Japan) in Malaysia and the new Sylphy in Thailand as well as increased sales in Australia.

3. Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in January decreased 34.5% year-on-year to 37,463 units.

Exports to North America decreased 33.5% year-on-year to 22,952 units.

Exports to Europe decreased 52.3% year-on-year to 3,499 units.
