Nissan production, sales and export results for May 2014

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for May 2014.

 1. Production

Nissan's global production in May increased 10.6% year-on-year to 426,223 units.

Production in Japan increased 5.2% year-on-year to 62,026 units.

Production outside of Japan increased 11.6% year-on-year to 364,197 units, marking an all-time record for the month of May.

In the U.S., production increased 15.8% year-on-year to 81,457 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Rogue, marking an all-time record for the month of May.

In Mexico, production increased 29.7% year-on-year to 74,159 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Sentra, marking an all-time record for a single month.

In the U.K., production decreased 8.0% year-on-year to 41,252 units.

In Spain, production increased 31.8% year-on-year to 16,369 units.

In China, production increased 12.2% year-on-year to 106,886 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new X-Trail and the Sylphy series.

Production in other regions decreased 5.0% year-on-year to 44,074 units.

2. Sales

Global sales increased 8.4% year-on-year to 442,967 units, making an all-time record for the month of May.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 43,352 units in Japan, up 7.0% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in May decreased 20.2% year-on-year to 26,521 units.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 130.4% year-on-year to 16,831 units, mainly due to strong sales of the Nissan DAYZ series, making an all-time record for the month of May.

Sales outside of Japan increased 8.5% year-on-year to 399,615 units, making an all-time sales record for the month of May.

Sales in the U.S. increased 18.8% year-on-year to 135,934 units, an all-time sales record for the month, mainly due to higher demand for the Sentra, Altima, Versa and the Nissan LEAF.

Sales in Mexico increased 1.6% year-on-year to 22,133 units, marking an all-time sales record for the month of May. Nissan has been the sales leader in Mexico for 5 consecutive years.

In Europe, sales increased 9.8% year-on-year to 56,964 units, mainly due to increased sales of the Note and the Micra, and the Almera in Russia.

In China, sales were up 3.1% year-on-year to 106,145 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new X-Trail.

Sales in other regions decreased 1.3% year-on-year to 67,669 units.

3. Japan Exports

Nissan's exports in May increased 12.0% year-on-year to 32,246 units.
