Nissan Production, Sales and Export Results for September and the Six-Month Period from April to September 2013

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for September and the six months from April to September 2013.

1. Production
September
Nissan's global production in September increased 14.1% year-on-year to 446,221 units, marking an all-time record for the month of September.

Production in Japan was down 1.9% year-on-year to 94,703 units.

Production outside of Japan increased 19.3% year-on-year to 351,518 units, marking an all-time record for the month of September.

In the U.S., production was 70,746 units. This was a significant increase of 72.8% year-on-year because the production volume in September 2012 was lower than usual due to the impact of preparations for the production transfer of certain models between plants.

In Mexico, production increased 8.4% year-on-year to 56,454 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Sentra.

In the U.K., production increased 1.6% year-on-year to 46,583 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Note, marking an all-time record for the month of September.

In Spain, production decreased 8.8% year-on-year to 10,815 units.

In China, production was up 48.2% year-on-year to 114,942 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Teana and Sylphy, marking an all-time record for the month of September.

Production in other regions decreased 2.8% year-on-year to 51,978 units.

April-September
Nissan's global production from April to September decreased 0.5% year-on-year to 2,417,607 units.

In Japan, domestic production declined 10.2% year-on-year to 500,519 units.

Production outside of Japan increased 2.4% year-on-year to 1,917,088 units, marking a record high for the April-September period.

In the U.S., production was up 24.4% year-on-year to 391,321 units.

In Mexico, production increased 3.8% year-on-year to 344,030 units.

In the U.K., production was down 1.3% year-on-year to 242,656 units.

In Spain, production decreased 2.9% year-on-year to 66,145 units.

In China, production increased 2.4% year-on-year to 578,620 units.

Production in other regions increased 3.6% year-on-year to 294,316 units.

2. Sales
September
Global sales increased 13.2% year-on-year to 448,926 units, marking an all-time record for the month of September.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 71,342 units in Japan, up 16.0% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in September decreased 1.0% year-on-year to 50,772 units.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 101.9% year-on-year to 20,570 units, marking an all-time record for the month of September. This is mainly attributable to strong sales of the new DAYZ, which went on sale in June 2013.

Sales outside of Japan increased 12.7 % year-on-year to 377,584 units.

Sales in the U.S. declined 5.5% year-on-year to 86,868 units.

Sales in Mexico increased 3.7% year-on-year to 19,698 units. This has made Nissan the sales leader in Mexico for 52 consecutive months.

In Europe, sales were up 2.0% year-on-year to 67,372 units, mainly due to increased sales in Russia.

In China, sales increased 83.4% year-on-year to 117,141 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Sylphy series and Qashqai.

Sales in other regions increased 2.6% year-on-year to 77,832 units, mainly due to favorable sales in Malaysia.

April-September
Global sales increased 1.7% year-on-year to 2,448,944 units, marking a record high for the April-September period.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 314,878 units in Japan, up 3.6% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations declined 1.7% year-on-year to 225,647 units.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 20.1% year-on-year to 89,231 units.

Sales outside of Japan increased 1.5% year-on-year to 2,134,066 units, marking a record high for the April-September period.

Sales in the U.S., Mexico and China increased year-on-year.

Sales in Europe and other regions decreased year-on-year.

3. Japan Exports
September
Nissan's exports in September increased 10.4% year-on-year to 60,288 units.

Exports to North America increased 22.8% year-on-year to 39,707 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Infiniti Q50.

April-September
Nissan's exports decreased 11.6% year-on-year to 292,523 units.

The decrease is mainly due to decreased demand in Europe and other regions.

Exports to North America were relatively stable at 202,633 units, a slight 1.1% decrease year-on-year.
