ROLLE, Switzerland - Today Nissan in Europe announced sales of 43,137 units in April with calendar year to date sales reaching 220,389 units.

In some markets, Nissan increased sales, notably in the UK and Spain, with higher market share noted in several countries despite an overall sluggish month for the industry.

Customer demand for the quality, UK-built models, Qashqai, Juke and Note continues to reinforce Nissan sales across Europe and the Nissan LEAF made history again by taking the number two spot in the overall car sales chart for Norway in April where Nissan achieved a 5.2% share of the market.

Nissan Europe Sales Vice President, Guillaume Cartier, said: "Considering the overall drop in demand in some regional markets, our calendar year to date performance is healthy and demonstrates the underlying popularity of our extensive model range.

"Our market share remains consistent in Western Europe. We are confident that the demand for models such as Qashqai, Juke and the new generation of the Electric LEAF, recently presented to European media, will enable us to make significant gains in 2013."
