Nissan Thailand Reports Record Sales in the First Half of 2012

BANGKOK, Thailand - Nissan Motor (Thailand) Ltd. today reported sales results for the first half of Calendar Year 2012 totaling 51,482 units, a year-on-year increase of 40% from 36,694 units during the same period last year. This is the highest figure in the company's history since it recorded sales of 50,126 units during the first half of 1996.

Eco-cars were the best performers. During this period, ALMERA led sales with 22,662 units sold and MARCH came in at 15,309 units, continuing their strong momentum. MARCH, introduced in Thailand in 2010 and ALMERA, launched in October last year, have sold 66,612 units and 28,106 units respectively since their launches.

"As the first brand to introduce the eco-car to the Thai market, Nissan is committed to the eco-car project in compliance with government policy. We are and will continue to be the leader in this segment. The sales results are encouraging, proving that Nissan is serving the market with the right products at the right time," said Takayuki Kimura, President of Nissan Motor (Thailand) Ltd.

"We are confident in our Japanese quality standards and will continue to deliver products of the highest level to our customers. We believe that the market in Thailand will remain robust, whereby Nissan's market share will reach double digits by the end of fiscal year 2012 by selling more than 100,000 units", he added.

Nissan will continue providing more choices for customers in Thailand by expanding its product line up. A new "C-segment" sedan will be introduced to the market in the second quarter, along with two other new models by the end of this fiscal year.
