VIDEO REPORT: Nissan Demonstrates Innovation and Excitement for EVERYONE at the NYIAS

NEW YORK – Nissan's newest innovations debuting at the New York International Auto Show are all about accessibility. From the easy-access third row of the new Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid to the NV200 Mobility Taxi, Nissan is making innovations that are within reach of everyone.

The new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid is set to go on sale late this summer. It still comfortably seats seven people. And it has the Nissan exclusive LATCH AND GLIDE technology that makes it easier to move the seat forward for quick access to the third row. What's new about the 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid is that it has a powertrain made up of a supercharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. That means it now gets an estimated 26 mpg fuel economy (estimated combined city/highway), or 526-miles of driving range.

Another Nissan innovation on display is meant to make work more efficient and accessible. The custom-built Gibson NV200 Mobile Repair & Restoration van is a mobile guitar repair shop for musicians on the go. The NV200 starts at $19,900 and can be customized to suit almost any business.

Possibly the biggest accessibility story from the show for New Yorkers is Nissan's new wheelchair accessible version of the Nissan NV200 Taxi. The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission selected the Nissan NV200 as the exclusive taxi of New York City. It is due to be on the streets in the Big Apple this fall.

This is what innovation looks like for mass transit. The NV200 Mobility Taxi has a rear-entry ramp and industry-first integrated restraint system to secure wheelchairs safely and quickly. The rear ramp access eliminates the need for wheelchair users to cross traffic to enter or exit – an important feature for New York City's network of one-way streets. The Nissan Mobility Taxi looks and functions like a standard Taxi of Tomorrow. The only difference is the added mobility function.

The car company also announced another new ride on the way. The next generation 2015 Nissan Murano, which will be based on the recently introduced Resonance Concept. The Resonance already won the 2013 Eyes on Design award at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit for best concept vehicle. The production model Murano based on this concept will include a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain.
