Nissan Begins eMotor Trials at Decherd Tenn. Plant

The eMotor that powers the Nissan LEAF has more than one mile of copper wiring inside. Currently those motors are assembled in Japan. Soon, however, Nissan's eMotor will be produced in Decherd, Tenn., about 70 miles away from where Nissan will build the 2013 Nissan LEAF in Smyrna, Tenn.

Beam Me Up: New Nissan Plant Takes Shape in Decherd, Tenn.

The partnership between the Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler reached a milestone last May when Tennessee officials joined Nissan leadership to break ground on a new manufacturing facility in Decherd, Tenn. The new facility will produce Mercedes-Benz 4-cyl. gasoline engines for Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz models.
