2014 Nissan Rogue, Altima and Pathfinder among Kelley Blue Book’s “12 Best Family Cars”

2014 Nissan Rogue

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com has named the 2014 Nissan Rogue, 2014 Nissan Altima and the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder to its list of the 12 Best Family Cars of 2014.

Nissan vehicles represent a quarter of the total winners, which were chosen by actual families working in conjunction with KBB.com's editorial staff. Twenty-one different vehicles, spread across 11 different brands, that had received top ranks in KBB.com's Expert Ratings in various family-friendly categories were evaluated in the study. Results were determined based on participants' feedback and compared notes.

This recognition from KBB.com compliments excellent sales and critical momentum for Rogue, Altima and Pathfinder – three of Nissan's five core models, all of which have been completely redesigned in the past two years.

"Each of these vehicles was designed to fit the needs of a wide range of customers and situations, while also being family-friendly," said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. "From Pathfinder's more conventional family profile to Rogue's wealth of amenities and clever cargo solutions to Altima's ideal fusion of sportiness and practicality, the mainstream appeal of these vehicles' designs has been borne out in robust sales numbers and third-party accolades such as these most recent awards from KBB.com."

Rogue, Nissan's second best-selling vehicle, was completely redesigned for the 2014 model year, and KBB.com praised its styling, options, third-row availability, the Divide-N-Hide® cargo system on two-row models, fuel economy and standard features, such as Bluetooth®, a USB port and Easy-Fill Tire Alert. The publication's editors also appreciated that Rogue was "surprisingly good at accommodating a rear-facing booster seat while still giving front passengers good legroom," noting that the vehicle "will certainly remain a compelling choice for young families looking for practical, comfortable and inexpensive transportation."

Altima, which is one of the ten best-selling cars in the U.S., received top marks for substance, roominess, comfortable front and rear seats, ease of installing and uninstalling child booster seats and solid driving dynamics. As KBB.com's editors noted, "the features you need are standard, and if they aren't, they're probably on the options list," elaborating that, "overall, we found little to dislike about the car, as well as a sporty nature that won us over."

According to KBB.com, Nissan's Pathfinder has "hit a sweet spot with family-car buyers, with sales more than doubling since its debut last year." Among the proof points of the vehicle's success are a sub-$30,000 starting price, roomy interior, plenty of cargo space, a sharp exterior and interior design and features such as Around View® Monitor and the 2nd row seat of the EZ Flex™ Seating System featuring LATCH AND GLIDE™. In providing such a complete package to consumers with children, KBB.com described Pathfinder as, "an 'A' student, and all but leaves an apple on the teacher's desk."
