New 2016 Nissan Maxima to serve as official Safety Car at Oak Tree Grand Prix in Virginia

2016 Nissan Maxima Safety Car

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A specially wrapped and equipped new 2016 Nissan Maxima will serve as the official Safety Car at Virginia International Raceway, located near Danville, Virginia, during the Oak Tree Grand Prix this weekend, Aug. 21-23. The redesigned Maxima, Nissan's "4DSC" (4-Door Sports Car), will be on display throughout the competition.

The car will perform the same duties at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, during the Lone Star Le Mans race Sept. 17-19.

As an official partner of IMSA, the sanctioning body for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, Nissan has fielded multiple cars and powerplants during recent seasons.

Two Doran Racing Nissan 370Z NISMOs will compete in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge during the Oak Tree Grand Prix weekend. The race will be streamed live on www.imsa.com Saturday, Aug. 22 at 1:25-3:55 ET. It will also be televised by Fox Sports 1 on a delayed basis on Sunday, Sept. 6 from 9 to 11 a.m. ET.

For the Lone Star Le Mans race, The Doran Racing 370Zs will be in action on a live webcast on www.imsa.com Friday, Sept. 18 from 1:40 to 4:10 p.m. ET. The taped delayed telecast will air on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.
