Skullcandy Team Nissan by CA Sport commits to Pirelli World Challenge to campaign cars in GTS, TC classes

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah After participating in select Pirelli World Challenge races last year, the decision for Skullcandy Team Nissan by CA Sport to join the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge series full-time was not taken lightly. Now that the decision has been made, all the ingredients are in place for an exciting season. Skullcandy Team Nissan by CA Sport will field two teams this year in the Pirelli World Challenge in both GTS and Touring Car classes.

Pirelli World Challenge continues to set the mark for production-based racing, and it’s a great platform to showcase the Skullcandy team’s abilities. Driver Vesko Kozarov, known for his fast lap times and no-holds-barred driving style, will lead the Skullcandy team in its GTS campaign behind the wheel of the #23 Nissan 370Z.  Kozarov played a principle role in car preparation and track setup. He is a competitor who knows race cars and what it takes to make them perform on track from the inside out.

“I am super excited to have the opportunity to showcase the abilities of another great Nissan product,” said Kozarov. “The 370Z is an underdog, but like all things Nissan, an overachiever. We started the fight at the last event of 2014, and I look forward to picking up where we left off and roughing up the usual suspects. It will be no easy task, but we are up for it.”

In Touring Car (TC) Class, the team will be led by 2014 standout Jason Cherry behind the wheel of the #13 Nissan Altima TC. With his dedication and focus, Cherry is sure to run consistently at the sharp end of the field. Besides getting attention for himself as an up-and-coming driver, Cherry is also on a mission to raise awareness for the Autism Society of America. His brother, Matthew was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Autism Awareness is a driving force in the young driver’s life and career.

"I am looking forward to my best season yet,” said Cherry. “With 20 cars running in the TC class, I am ready to put on a show and hope to maintain the nickname I established this past season as ‘Mr. Excitement.’ I am blessed to have this opportunity to work with Nissan and CA Sport, and I look forward to battling with some of the greats of motorsports."

CA Sport owner Lara Tallman said it’s a great time to join the Pirelli World Challenge Series.

“Our participation last season convinced us that this is the place to be,” said Tallman. “Our successful efforts in TC and the strong debut of the team’s 370Z GTS platform in the memorable finale at Miller Motorsports Park make us eager to get things underway. We really are exited to let Vesko run wild. We expect strong competition, but know we have the skills and determination to make an impression.  We are also looking forward to working with young driver Jason Cherry as he makes his mark in TC and raises awareness for a great organization. In 2014 he showed that he has the skills and mindset to run at the front, and we look forward to providing him with a platform worthy of his aspirations.”
