GT Academy Teams Qualify 1-2 for Dubai 24 Hour in 370Zs

DUBAI (Jan. 10, 2013) – The two-car GT Academy Racing Team piloted their RJN Motorsports Nissan 370Zs to a sweep of the top two positions in the SP3 class in qualifying for the Dubai 24 Hour endurance race.  Spaniard Lucas Ordoñez, the winner of the initial Nissan GT Academy competition, was fastest in class with the number 127 entry (Ordonez/Reip/Schulzhitskiy/Doherty/Rusinov) with a time of 2:09.020, immediately followed by the sister car (#147, Schmitz/Pyzera/Schulzhitskiy/Doherty/ Buncombe), driven by 2011 GT Academy Europe champion Alex Buncombe just 0.631 second back.

The two teams are made up predominantly of GT Academy winners from Europe and North America. The RJN/GT Academy team entered one Nissan 370Z in the 2012 race, piloted by GT Academy winners Ordoñez, Jordan Tresson, Jann Mardenborough and American Bryan Heitkotter - finishing third in the SP3 class.

GT Academy North America champion for 2012 Steve Doherty is registered in both cars, ensuring plenty of seat time in his first ever International endurance race. The around the clock enduro begins Friday, January 11 at 2:00 pm local time in the UAE, which is 5:00 am EST/6:00 am Central in the U.S.  Fans can follow all the race action at the Dubai 24h website at http://www.24hdubai.com/.
