Every year the ritual is repeated. All winter the cars have been improved and tested. One step remains before they are sent out to the first race of the Super GT season. They must be blessed. To win another championship the NISMO drivers and engineers need more than just skill and dedication, they need the gods on their side.
The final round of this year's SUPER GT series, the "Motegi GT 250km" took place on Sunday, October 28th at Twin Ring Motegi. After qualifying 7th, the #1 S Road REITO MOLA GT-R (Masataka Yanagida / Ronnie Qintarelli) made an excellent start and advanced throughout the race to finish 2nd, a mere hair's breadth away from the victors.
Round 7 of the 2012 SUPER GT series - SUPER GT in KYUSHU 300km will be held on September 29 and 30 at Autopolis in Oita Prefecture, Japan. This Autopolis round is the most recent addition to the series - added in 2003, but since then has been an important round as the penultimate race of the season and one which can determine the championship.
Gloriously sunny skies and summer-like conditions greeted race fans on Sunday, September 9th at Fuji International Speedway for Round 6 of the SUPER GT series, where the #12 CALSONIC IMPUL GT-R (Tsugio Matsuda/Joao Paolo de Oliveira) took a commanding lights-to-flag victory as the NISSAN GT-R won back-to-back victories is this hotly-contested championship.
The sixth round of the 2012 SUPER GT series will be held on September 8 and 9 at Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture. SUPER GT generally sticks to only one race per year at tracks in Japan and elsewhere, but in recent years has made an exception in order to hold two races annually at Fuji, the mecca of GT racing.
Round 5 of the 2012 SUPER GT season is the 41st running of the International Pokka 1,000kms, held over two days, August 18 and 19, at Suzuka Circuit in Mie prefecture. First held in 1966, the Suzuka 1,000kms is one of the classic racing events in Japan.
