1998 Nissan Quest Press Kit

1998 Nissan Quest Press Kit: Overview

Following yet another year as the best-selling import minivan in the U.S - a distinction it has boasted since 1993 - the innovative Nissan Quest adds a new luxuriously-equipped GLE model for the 1998 model year. Featuring its unique passenger/cargo versatility and advanced safety features, Quest enjoys the benefits of car-like handling and ride comfort. Assembled in Avon Lake, Ohio, Quest also contributes to Nissan's investment in the U.S.

"The Nissan Quest is another example of the Nissan brand's commitment to sell products that fit our customers needs and wants," said Tom Eastwood, vice president, Nissan Division. "Quest is a high-quality minivan with a winning blend of thoughtful features and smart packaging. It's just one of the many vehicles we offer to truly help our customers 'Enjoy the ride."

Three models of Quest are offered - the value-oriented XE, the comfortably-equipped GXE and the new-for-1998 top of the line GLE. Each model is offered with a variety of comfort and convenience features and a brilliant palette of exterior and interior colors, including two new two-tone exterior color combinations.

Design/Interior Styling
Quest's smooth body makes the most of its functional character, with body-color front and rear fascias and gently curving lines from front to rear. The traditional forward swinging front doors allow driver and front passenger access, while a large passenger-side sliding door and upward-hinged rear door allow excellent access to Quests flexible seating and cargo areas.

Quest offers 10 exterior colors and a total of 14 color combinations including two-tones. Four new colors are available for the 1998 model year.

Beneath the stylish exterior, the 1998 Nissan Quest offers outstanding performance and utility. The versatile and spacious interior adapts to multiple combinations of people and cargo hauling needs due to its QUEST TRAC® Flexible Seating System. In the standard XE model with second and third row bench seats, the seats can be arranged to create 20 different configurations, while captain's chairs offer an additional four positions for a total of 24 possible arrangements. Depending on the seating layout, available cargo volume varies from 14.1 cu. ft. to 114.8 cu. ft., with seating capacity for seven adults.

Safety Features
Quest comes equipped with standard dual air bags, 3-point front seat belts with height-adjustable upper anchors for user comfort, pipe-style steel side-door guard beams and a child-safety lock on the sliding side door. As an added safety feature for infants and children, second-row integrated child safety seats are available on both XE and GXE models with bench seats.

Also featured on Quest is an anti-lockout power door lock system which prevents drivers from locking the vehicles keys inside by sensing if a key has been left in the ignition switch when the driver's door is closed. Quest's door locks also sense if any object other than the vehicle key is put into the lock cylinder and engages the vehicle security system.
Engine/Suspension/Body Structure

Integral to the unique character of Quest is its powerful engine which has more horsepower (151 hp) than any other import-brand minivan. The Quest powertrain, standard on all models, includes an advanced 3.0-liter SOHC V6 engine linked to an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive fourth gear.

Quest provides improved pulling power and acceleration and a smoother transmission shift - even when hauling heavy loads - thanks to the computer management system that keeps the engine and transmission communicating with each other, and a torque curve specifically designed to provide greater torque at lower rpm.

Complementing the powertrain is a responsive suspension featuring MacPherson struts in front and a long-tapered leaf spring rear suspension. Standard front stabilizer bars (optional in the rear on GXE and GLE) help minimize body roll.

Standard power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering and power-assisted front disc brakes contribute to stable road handling and responsive braking. For 1998, 4-wheel disc brakes with vented front rotors and anti-lock braking system (ABS) are standard on GXE and GLE models and optional on XE.

Standard Equipment/Optional Features and Packages
The 1998 Quest comes equipped with a myriad of standard features, including: dual air bags, storage in the rear (third-row) seat position; a 12-volt power point plug in the second-row seating area (GXE and GLE); power windows, mirrors and lock switches; and an illuminated driver-side vanity mirror.

For driving comfort, Quest offers a solid lineup of standard and optional luxury and convenience features. Remote keyless entry system with illuminated entry/exit fade-out system, a semi-automatic temperature control system, an in-dash disc compact disc changer, and a steering wheel-mounted audio system, add to Quest's enjoyable experience for drivers and passengers.

Quest XE features an increased level of standard equipment for 1998 and the GXE model offers a variety of available equipment packages, including a GXE Luxury Package (including sunroof) and GXE Handling Package. Quest GLE comes fully equipped with a myriad of comfort and convenience features.

Leather seating surfaces are standard on GLE, while ABS and rear air conditioning and heater are standard on GXE and GLE, and offered as an option on XE.
