The final race in the China Touring Car Championship (Round 8) was held at Guangdong Circuit in the city of Guangzhou. The DongFeng Nissan Ghia Sports Team entered 1600cc Nissan Tiidas in the race, two of which finished in 7th and 8th.
Guangdong Circuit, located in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, was completed as recently as last year. Despite it being December, the temperature rose to 28 degrees Celsius (with a track temperature of 33 degrees), making for sweaty conditions. Even though one of the VW Polos didn't get away at the start, there were no accidents or contact and the other machines entered the first corner without incident. However, the #6 HAIMA, starting sixth on the grid, in its aim for a better position overtook aggressively on the outside and collided with the rear of the #2 Tiida of Lin Lifeng. Having sustained damage, the #2 Tiida tried to continue, but after the 8th corner had to stop and retire. Guo Haisheng in the #1 Tiida, having started from 11th position, jockeyed with the HAIMA while waiting for his chance to move up, and rose to 8th position. He was however, hit from behind by the #7 HAIMA, spinning out at the hairpin turn on the second lap. In addition, he was also hit again in the rear by the #38 HAIMA. The Safety Car came out as a result of the accident, and the race was restarted on the 13th lap. Even though the #1 Tiida had damage to the rear of the car from the collision, it managed to finish in 8th.
Succeeding to break away in the confusion at the start of the race, Sun Zheng in the #3 Tiida came back to the home straight one position up in 4th place. Though he had been maintaining a steady 4th position, right after the race was restarted on lap 13, he ran into engine troubles at the first corner, signalling the end of his race.
On the other hand, starting from the bottom of the field in 18th place, Lei Juanbin calmly sailed his way through the race, finishing in 7th place.
