Brad Lovell Named 2012 Dirt Sports Racer of the Year

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. – Brad Lovell was named Racer of the Year by Dirt Sports Magazine at an awards presentation at the Oakley world headquarters on Feb. 13 -- the latest of many honors coming out of an unforgettable 2012 racing season.

In addition to winning the TORC Pro-Light series championship in his Nissan Frontier, the Colorado Springs-based Lovell also took the Ultra-4 Pro series championship and the Baja 1,000 class championship with Lovell Racing. He said the Dirt Sports award was the pinnacle of his racing career.

"I really do feel it is the highest award that our team could get," said the 36-year old Lovell. "It's a benchmark in my career.  This is not a hobby for us, it is a passion and a business. You can't buy passion and you can't buy the relationship that family has and how they work together."

Lovell points to many highlights to the 2012 season. He clinched the TORC Pro-Light championship in his Lovell Racing/Amsoil Nissan at the final event, despite losing his rear brakes. His Baja stint left him with an aching body as he exited his Baja 1,000 racer after the desert marathon.

"The Dirt Sports Driver of the Year awards represent those efforts that had the greatest impact on off-road motorsports during the 2012 racing season, and in 2012, Brad Lovell proved to be that guy," said Jim Ryan, Group Publisher of Dirt Sports magazine.
