David P. Reuter is vice president, Corporate Communications - Nissan Americas, a position to which he was appointed Jan. 1, 2011. In this role, Reuter reports to Colin Dodge, chairman, Management Committee - Nissan Americas, and is responsible for leading Nissan's Communications function across the Americas region and providing strategic counsel and support to the company's senior leadership.
Reuter, 42, joined Nissan in May 2010 as director, Corporate Communications from Bentley Motors, Inc. where he was head of PR & Communications for the premium British brand's largest market worldwide.
Reuter began his professional career straight after university as a freelance journalist writing about cars and the automotive industry for a number of daily and trade publications. In February 1993 he transitioned into a career in Public Relations as an Account Executive for Event Management Corporation, a suburban Detroit-based public relations firm with clients across the automotive, consumer goods and motorsports sectors.
In December 1994 Reuter was appointed a Communications Assistant with the Ford Division of Ford Motor Company. For the next 12 years he held a number of roles of increasing importance throughout Ford's global operations, including assignments as Product Launch Manager for North American Public Relations and Planning Manager for Ford of Japan based in Tokyo.
In November 1998 Reuter was named Senior Manager of Global Product Strategy for Ford of Europe, based in Cologne, Germany, where he supported the company's PR efforts for a number of successful European models over a three year period.
Reuter returned to the United States in 2001 and assumed roles such as Financial News Manager, Global Corporate Communications and Manager, Ford Car Public Relations. In October 2005 he was named Ford's Midwest region Public Relations manager leading the company's communications efforts across a multi-state territory.
In May 2006 Reuter joined Bentley Motors, Inc. as general manager, Public Relations in the company's Auburn Hills, Michigan offices. In September 2008 he became head of PR & Communications for Bentley following the company's headquarters transition to Boston, Massachusetts earlier that summer.
Reuter holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. and resides in Brentwood, Tenn., with his wife and four children.
