MISSISSAUGA, ONT. – As the official automotive partner of the Canadian Football League (CFL), Nissan helped the Toronto Argonauts celebrate their Grey Cup triumph today in a parade which went through downtown Toronto. Nissan provided a fleet consisting of Nissan Titan trucks and the all-new Nissan Pathfinder SUVs, and dispatched its own employees to drive the Toronto Argonauts team members in the parade convoy.
Twenty-eight Nissan Titan pickup trucks and one Nissan 370Z convertible carried the Argonauts players, coaches and their families through town, including: Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray; 2012 CFL Most Outstanding Player; Chad Owens; Grey Cup game Most Outstanding Player, running back Chad Kackert; Grey Cup Most Outstanding Canadian; defensive end Ricky Foley, and Head Coach, Scott Milanovich. The official VIP vehicle for the Grey Cup Festival, the all-new Nissan Pathfinder, also had a presence at the victory parade.
"Toronto is Nissan Canada's hometown, so we are especially proud of the Toronto Argonauts' 16th Grey Cup victory and offer our sincere congratulations to the team on behalf of everyone at Nissan," said Judy Wheeler, Director of Marketing at Nissan Canada Inc. "Now in our seventh year of partnership with the CFL, the Argos have developed a substantial fan base with Nissan Canada employees who have been faithfully cheering for them all year. For that reason, we're absolutely delighted to celebrate this historical Grey Cup win with the Toronto Argonauts, and in a way that brings us all so close to the fans."
The parade to celebrate the club's 16th Grey Cup win, its first since 2004, began at Wellington St. & Yonge St. and travelled west to Bay St, turning up north and proceeding up Bay St. The parade concluded on stage in Nathan Phillips Square where City of Toronto officials read a proclamation announcing November 27, 2012 to be Toronto Argonauts Day.
