Rebecca Barker Vest is vice president, Purchasing, for Nissan Americas. In this position, she oversees all purchasing activities for parts, materials, vendor tooling, logistics, services, machinery and equipment, media, aftersales and accessories for Nissan's operations in the U.S., Mexico and Brazil. This includes vehicle assembly at Smyrna, Tenn.; Canton, Miss.; Aguascalientes and Cuernavaca, Mex.; and engine manufacturing at Decherd, Tenn. Her responsibilities also include supplier quality assurance, purchasing project management and supplier relations. She also serves as the North American operating general manager for the Renault-Nissan Purchasing Organization (RNPO).
Vest joined NNA in 2009 as director, Powertrain Purchasing. In that role, she led purchasing efforts for all powertrain projects in North America (US and Mexico). In addition to this role, she served as the Monozukuri leader, working with suppliers to improve their competitiveness. Before Nissan, Vest worked for over 22 years at Toyota, where she held positions of increasing responsibility in purchasing including Parts, Materials, Facilities, Strategy and Parts Commodity Engineering. Additionally, she spent two years at the Toyota Technical Center, responsible for cost planning within the engineering organization.
Vest earned a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Kentucky. She currently lives in Franklin, Tenn., with her husband and two children.
