GT Academy North America 2014 winner Nicolas Hammann to race Nissan GT-R NISMO in Moscow Blancpain Sprint Series race

Wisconsin’s Nic Hammann dominates final race to win Nissan GT Academy Season 4

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – NISMO Athlete and 2014 Nissan GT Academy winner Nic Hammann kicks off his first racing season for Nissan in a big way, co-driving with Russian GT Academy champ Mark Shulzhitskiy in an RJN Nissan GT-R GT3 NISMO racer in the first-ever Blancpain Sprint Series event at Moscow Raceway in Russia July 3 to 4.

For Hammann, whose inaugural North American racing debut comes a week later at Mosport, Canada July 10 to 11, the call up was a pleasant surprise. His previous racing experience in the GT-R GT3 came at the Dubai 24 hours this January, where an all-GT Academy lineup took second in class and fifth overall in that race against International competition.

"My GT Academy racing journey continues as I get to travel to Russia, a country I never could have ever imagined visiting,” said Hammann. “I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of the RJN Motorsports GT-R GT3 again. Mark (Shulzhitskiy) has experience in many different forms of racing, driving at Paul Ricard in the Blancpain Endurance Series GT3 this coming weekend and LeMans in LMP1 last weekend. I will do my best to make the most of this great opportunity Nissan is giving me.”

The schedule in Russia is compressed. With three practices at the 2.46-mile road course on Friday July 3 and qualifying and two one hour sprints at 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Eastern and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Eastern on Saturday July 4. All Blancpain Sprint Series Race are streamed live at http://www.blancpain-gt-series.com/live.
