Habitat Nashville Celebrates 500th Build With Partner Nissan

After 27 years the Greater Nashville affiliate of Habitat for Humanity (HFH) is now part of an elite group within the Habitat organization.

On Friday, April 20, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville celebrated its 500th home build with Nashville Mayor Karl Dean, new home owner LaTonia McLaurine, and sponsor-partner Nissan. The home is located in Habitat's Park Preserve community, which will eventually develop 380 single-family homes and offer 58 acres of primitive wilderness park with an extensive trail network.

Nissan, whose Americas corporate headquarters are located south of Nashville in Franklin, Tenn., has been a partner with Habitat since 2006, contributing $7.5 million in grant money, building 50 homes, donating 104 vehicles -- all with the help and support of 5,000 employee volunteers.

Over the years, HFH of Greater Nashville has served nearly 1,700 family members, including more than 1,100 children.
