Lovell Wins TRAXXAS TORC PRO-Light Championship in Nissan Frontier

LANCASTER, Calif. - "This is the biggest moment in my career!" Brad Lovell shouted above the din as he celebrated his first-ever TRAXXAS TORC PRO-Light Championship.

Lovell and his Lovell Racing Nissan Frontier entered the pressure-packed final rounds of TORC (The Off Road Championships) racing in Lancaster, CA with a razor thin five-point lead over rival Andrew Caddell. In the first event, Caddell's Dodge Ram tangled with another truck, while Lovell got through cleanly and passed Caddell who was forced to the pit with a flat.  As the race resumed, Caddell suffered mechanical damage and withdrew from the race, while Lovell lost his brakes soon afterward. "It's pretty sketchy to race without brakes,” said Lovell. “I knew I had to salvage a finish and almost piled it into the wall a couple times. It was a very intense race! I didn't see the wreck Caddell was in but it didn't sound good."

Through all the first round drama, Lovell managed to finish 5th and collect much needed points against a challenger who received none.

The team had to re-prep the Frontier in only two hours for round two under a condensed race format.  Now armed with a 20-point lead and the brake issue repaired, Lovell only needed to finish 9th or better to win the championship. Content to run a conservative race and avoid getting taken out by other drivers, Lovell finished 6th to clinch the championship while a hard charging Caddell hit a safety truck in the infield dust and was not a factor.

Lovell reveled in the win with his teammates, saying, "We did an amazing thing. A bunch of rock donkeys, a drag racer, and a stock broker won it! In all honesty, the effort to pull this off is nearly unfathomable. My family, the team, our sponsors, volunteers across the country, and everyone who helped us at the track - they are the ones who won this and should be proud! A whole bunch of sponsors all took a huge gamble on us and we pulled it off!"
