ROLLE, Switzerland – Nissan today announced European sales in fiscal year 2015 (ending March 31) of 710,321 and Nissan sales in Western Europe of 621,910, an increase of 9.4 percent on 2014 levels and an all-time high.

Nissan with Datsun recorded European sales of 737,501 units in FY2015, in line with 2014 sales. March 2016 sales totaled 95,720, again in line with the previous year. This marks the sixth consecutive year of market share growth and consistently healthy sales since 2009 levels.

Nissan sales increased in all major markets in Western Europe during FY2015 with measurable increases in Spain +19.3 percent, Germany +13.2 percent Italy +8.8 percent, UK +4.2 percent and in France +3.9 percent.

The brand's European sales were bolstered by the launch of NP300 Navara and the new longer-range Leaf 30 kWh. The pioneering Nissan Qashqai crossover continues to go from strength to strength with more than 250,000 customers in FY2015 choosing its style, efficiency and advanced technologies such as the Safety Shield and Around View Monitor.

The expansion of Nissan's electric vehicle lineup is paying great dividends. The Nissan LEAF continues to lead the electric vehicle segment globally and sold 16,916 cars in Europe this outgoing fiscal year, a new annual record. Nissan is leading the way in important new technologies with much more to come both in electric cars and in autonomous driving vehicles – the future of transportation.

"We have a commitment to continue to bring more to our customers – more choice, more value and more innovative and exciting products," said Guillaume Cartier, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing for Nissan Europe. "Nissan stands apart from its class. We deliver quality and we continue to reinvent and break boundaries such as the new Nissan Micra, which is launching this year. We are very excited about Nissan's piloted drive Qashqai, featuring autonomous drive technologies, which will be coming to Europe in 2017."

Nissan's product lineup is strong and cohesive, which results in Nissan's European car plants breaking records year after year. In 2016, Nissan marked the 30th anniversary of Nissan's UK plant in Sunderland, which has produced more than 400,000 units for the sixth consecutive year. Nissan produced 615,000 vehicles in Europe in 2015.
