Nissan LEAF Drives into the Record Books…Again

• Nissan LEAFs set record for the largest parade of electric vehicles
• 225 LEAFs on track simultaneously at Silverstone circuit, UK

LONDON, UK – The multi-award winning Nissan LEAF has entered the record books for the second time in 2012.  The convoy of 225 cars took place around the Silverstone racing circuit to break the Guinness World Record for the "largest parade of electric vehicles," beating the previous record of 218 held by Chrysler in the US.

Nissan LEAF owners travelled from around the UK, from as far afield as Aberdeen and Belfast, to meet up at the world-famous Formula One circuit on Saturday, November 24. The event was organized by Nissan to bring together owners of the world's best selling electric vehicle to share their ownership experiences and to gather information about how they use their cars.

Joined by famous faces including actor and presenter Robert Llewellyn and UK television presenter Dallas Campbell, the cars paraded around the circuit for just over two miles under the watchful eye of the Guinness World Record adjudicators.

The Nissan LEAF entered the record books earlier this year by becoming the fastest car over a mile in reverse, set at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June by stunt driver Terry Grant.

About the Nissan LEAF
The Nissan LEAF was the first mass produced EV winning the European, World and Japanese car of the year 2011. More than 43,000 units have been sold globally since its introduction in December 2010, making Nissan LEAF the world's most selling electric vehicle. The AC motor develops 80 kW of power and 280 Nm of torque, enough for a maximum speed of 145 km/h. The electric motor is powered by a Nissan-developed laminated lithium-ion battery with an output of more than 90 kW. Recharging from empty to 100% takes eight hours with a normal charger and just 30 minutes from empty to 80% using a quick charger in optimal conditions. Nissan LEAF has been awarded five stars in the tough Euro NCAP tests, making it one of the safest cars on the road.
