Nissan North America Reports Sales Up 11.4% in June

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today reported June U.S. sales of 71,941 units versus 64,570 units a year earlier, an increase of 11.4 percent. Nissan Division sales increased 16.7 percent for the month at 65,659 units. Sales of Infiniti vehicles decreased 24.3 percent from the prior year, to 6,282 units.

For 2011, NNA sales have increased 14.7 percent to 504,973 units. Nissan Division deliveries are up 16.5 percent, while Infiniti sales are flat in the first half of the calendar year, against the same period in 2010.

NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS

  • Nissan vehicles posted June sales of 65,659 units, an increase of 16.7 percent over the 56,266 units sold in June 2010.
  • Sales of the Nissan LEAF 100-percent electric vehicle reached a new high, with 1,708 units delivered in June, for a total of 3,875 deliveries in 2011.
  • Nissan Rogue set a new June record, at 7,493 units.
  • Nissan Sentra sales increased 30.5 percent over a year ago, with 8,077 deliveries.
  • Deliveries of the Nissan Frontier increased 51.7 percent over June 2010.

“Nissan saw substantial growth for both our car and truck lineups over a year ago,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division. “Deliveries of the Nissan LEAF topped 1,700 units, our best ever month, as we focus on fulfilling the demand of an enthusiastic and growing group of consumers eager to make the switch to a 100-percent electric car.”

INFINITI HIGHLIGHTS

  • Infiniti today reported sales of 6,282 units in June, down 24.3 percent versus 8,304 units a year earlier, due to limited supply. Full production has resumed in Japan and more than 10,000 new Infiniti units are expected to arrive at Infiniti retailers in July.
  • Sales of the new Infiniti QX full-size luxury SUV increased 27.5 percent in June to 839 units, while its year-to-date sales of 5,633 are up 27.0 percent
  • Infiniti G Sedan sales of 2,641 for the month supported a 4.9 percent year-over-year increase for that model.

NOTE: To ensure consistency in global sales reporting, Nissan North America calculates monthly variances on a straight-percentage basis, unadjusted for the number of selling days. June 2011 had 26 selling days, while June 2010 had 25 selling days.
