In Spain, production increased 52.3% year-on-year to 5,302 units.

In China, production was up 14.9% year-on-year to 88,163 units, mainly due to increased demand for the Venucia R50, the Sylphy series and Qashqai.

2. Sales

Global sales increased 3.1% year-on-year to 391,851 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 46,910 units in Japan, up 12.4% year-on-year.

In Japan, vehicle registrations in August increased 3.3% year-on-year to 32,438 units, mainly due to increased sales of Note.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 40.1% year-on-year to 14,472 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August. This is mainly attributable to strong sales of the new DAYZ, which went on sale on June.

Sales outside of Japan increased 1.9 % year-on-year to 344,941 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Sales in the U.S. increased 22.3% year-on-year to 120,498 units, mainly due to higher demand for Pathfinder, Rogue, Altima and Nissan LEAF, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Sales in Mexico increased 14.2% year-on-year to 22,274 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August. This has made Nissan the sales leader in Mexico for 51 consecutive months. Tsuru recorded the second highest sales ever for a single month.

Sales in other regions decreased 9.8% year-on-year to 69,404 units.

3. Japan Exports

Nissan's exports in August decreased 11.5% year-on-year to 44,327 units.

Exports to North America decreased 10.5% year-on-year to 29,592 units.

Exports to Europe decreased mainly because the volume of exports that had been counted as CKD units changed to being counted as parts shipments from Japan for major models destined for Russia (X-Trail, Teana and Murano) in June. These models are being counted as local production models in Russia rather than as models produced in and exported from Japan. From August 2013 onward, these models are counted as locally produced models in Russia.
