Nissan Production, Sales and Export Results for August 2012

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for August 2012.

1. Production
Nissan's global production in August increased 0.5% year-on-year to 387,062 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Production in Japan decreased 1.3% year-on-year to 88,096 units due to lower demand for Murano, despite increased demand for the new Note and Serena.

Production outside of Japan increased 1.1% year-on-year to 298,966 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

In the U.S., production increased 11.9% year-on-year to 62,712 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Infiniti JX and Nissan Frontier truck.

In Mexico, production was stable at 60,810 units, a 0.1% increase year-on-year.

In the U.K., production increased 13.6% year-on-year to 41,745 units, due to increased demand for Juke and Qashqai.

In Spain, production decreased 42.4% year-on-year to 3,481 units, due to fewer operating days because of the summer holidays.

In China, production decreased 8.9% year-on-year to 86,488 units.

Production in other regions increased 5.7% year-on-year to 43,730 units, mainly due to increased demand for Sunny in India and Almera in Thailand.

2. Sales
Global sales increased 5.2% year-on-year to 380,060 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 41,727 units in Japan, a decline of 6.3% year-on-year.

In Japan, despite increased demand for Serena and the new NV350 Caravan, vehicle registrations in August decreased 7.0% year-on-year to 31,396 units. This is attributable to decreased demand for the Note in advance of the new model's introduction, and slower sales of Lafesta Highway Star compared to the same period last year.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan decreased 4.0% year-on-year to 10,331 units.

Sales outside of Japan increased 6.8% year-on-year to 338,333 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Sales in the U.S. increased 7.6% year-on-year to 98,515 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Altima, Versa, Rogue and the new Infiniti JX.

In Europe, sales increased 3.1% year-on-year to 41,832 units, mainly due to increased demand for Qashqai and Juke as well as increased sales in Russia.

In China, sales increased 0.6% year-on-year to 95,187 units, marking an all-time record for the month of August.

Sales in other regions increased 23.2% year-on-year to 76,861 units, mainly due to increased demand in Brazil, India and Thailand.

3. Japan Exports
Nissan's exports in August decreased 13.4% year-on-year to 50,106 units.

Exports to North America increased 8.6% year-on-year to 33,071 units.

Exports to Europe decreased 35.6% year-on-year to 6,136 units.
