Nissan Publishes 2012 Sustainability Report

Blue Citizenship

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today published its 2012 Sustainability Report on its internet website.

The report includes the Nissan CSR Scorecard, which tracks the progress made on annual CSR objectives. It also outlines the achievements that were attained during fiscal year 2011 and defines new targets for 2012 as part of the company's roadmap for continued CSR development. Nissan's CSR key areas*1 are detailed in eight sections, including Fiscal 2011 Highlights and Nissan's approach to Disaster Response.

In the first article of the report, Nissan President and CEO, Carlos Ghosn, describes the company's long-term vision for Nissan and for society's sustainable development: "Our long-term vision is Enriching People's Lives. This means transforming the lives of all our stakeholders—which, in the long run, means everybody on the planet. Our goal is to make sure that something better comes into their lives because of Nissan... there are a lot of questions facing humanity today. My vision for Nissan is to make ours a company that helps produce the answers we need."

The company's CSR division was formed in April 2005 to manage and strengthen the company's CSR strategies, manage relationships with stakeholders,*2 and enhance its external reputation, based on Nissan CSR Policy*3. A dedicated CSR Steering Committee monitors the company's progress in each of the key areas involving CSR, analyzes risks and opportunities, and sets future goals for the company. In addition to the Sustainability Report 2012, Nissan published the "Blue Citizenship*4 Stories 2012" report on its corporate website in July 2012 to help facilitate understanding of Nissan's CSR initiatives for our stakeholders.
