Nissan's Best from 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – As 2015 approaches, we look back at some memorable moments in 2014. For starters, we recently launched the stunning new Murano. We achieved record sales. We paid tribute to our nation's bravest with Project Titan. We built a LEAF pickup truck because, well, we needed one around the shop. And lots more. Here's to another positive year in 2015 – for everyone. Have a safe and happy holiday season, from all of us at Nissan.

Nissan Division Sets Record for Most U.S. Sales in History

In early December, after reporting November 2014 sales, Nissan Division set a record for most U.S. sales in its history with 1,164,254 – so far in 2014, a year-over-year increase of 12.4 percent. Rogue sales set a November record at 15,067, an increase of 43.7 percent. Nissan LEAF also set a November record with 2,687 sales, an increase of 34.1 percent. November sales of the Versa subcompact were 9,283, up 11.5 percent. Sentra sales increased 16.0 percent in November to 13,530. We sense a pattern here.

"Nissan Titan Truckumentary" Tells Story of Next-Generation Pickup Truck Development

To celebrate the reveal of the next-generation Titan, Nissan will be telling the story of its upcoming full-size pickup's development via a series of short videos under the "Nissan Titan Truckumentary" banner. A teaser of this video series was issued today along with an introductory letter to the series from Nissan North America's Director of Product Planning for trucks and SUVs and Chief Product Specialist for the next-generation Titan, Rich Miller. The video and letter can be accessed via Nissan's online newsroom at www.nissannews.com/Titan or on Nissan's YouTube channel.

Renault-Nissan Alliance Sells its 200,000th Electric Vehicle

In November, the Renault-Nissan Alliance sold its 200,000th electric vehicle and announced it has a leading 58% market share for zero-emission cars. Together, Renault and Nissan EVs have driven approximately four billion zero-emission kilometers – enough to circle the earth 100,000 times. Renault-Nissan's EVs represent 200 million liters of fuel saved – enough to fill about 80 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Alliance EVs also represent 450 million kg of CO2 that has not been emitted while driving. The Alliance sold its 200,000th EV in early November, about four years after the launch of the Nissan LEAF, the world's first mass-market electric vehicle. Nissan LEAF remains the best-selling electric vehicle in history.

Nissan Fans Said to "Restore the Craigslist Maxima," and Here it is

Just about a year ago, Nissan demonstrated that it’s a company with a sense of humor. When its social media team came across a tongue-in-cheek video ad for a 1996 Maxima for sale on Craigslist, Nissan sprung at the chance to have a little fun.

"When we first learned about it we thought, 'We gotta buy this car. He'll never expect that. People will go nuts. How can you sell a car to a car company? We gotta jump on this,'" said Rob Robinson, Nissan, Social Communications.

Luke Aker of Orlando, Florida and owner of Ikonik Films, was behind the original video that listed his '96 Maxima for sale as "Luxury Defined." The spot, which poked fun at luxury automotive marketing, became a viral sensation after a friend of Aker posted the video to Reddit.

Nissan, Wounded Warrior Project Honor Veterans with Short Film

On Veterans Day, Nissan gave a special tribute to the United States Armed Forces with the inspiring story of two Wounded Warrior Project® Alumni. Less than two months since returning from the trip of a lifetime, veterans David Guzman and Kevin McMahon were featured in an adventure-packed short film.

In March, Guzman and McMahon were selected to embark on an unforgettable adventure behind the wheel of Nissan's Project Titan truck. In mid-September, following months of preparation, the two veterans took off on their journey through the Alaskan wilderness in the outfitted Project Titan. This short film captures their journey and marks the culmination of Project Titan, the second crowd-sourced Nissan vehicle.

Nissan Expands Multi-Year Sponsorship of NBC's "The Voice" Through Partnership with Adam Levine

Nissan North America, Inc. announced its new partnership with Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5 and coach on NBC's Emmy Award winning "The Voice," today. The partnership marks an expansion of the automaker's existing multi-season sponsorship of "The Voice." New program elements include a series of on-air vignettes featuring Adam Levine and several season seven contestants in video segments.

Nissan Launches U.S. Murano Production Making Canton, Mississippi Global Export Hub

Nissan's Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant has gone global as the company rolls the first all-new 2015 Nissan Murano off the line today, marking the first time the model has been produced in the U.S. Nissan Canton is now the company's worldwide hub for Murano production, expanding export opportunities from the plant to more than 100 markets.

The 2015 Nissan Murano went on sale in December.

Long Awaited 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO at Home in N.C.

It was a momentous day for Winston-Salem, North Carolina, resident Matt McCulloh, and a historic day for Nissan. McCulloh took delivery of the first 2015 Nissan GT-R NISMO made for the U.S. market.

"It is just exciting, because you see how happy he is. And whatever it is in life that makes you happy, you just well up in tears thinking that he has worked so hard for this day. And, although it is just a car, to him it is something he has been very passionate about. And it is just a great day – just a fun day," said Sherry McCulloh, Matt's mom.

This legendary car made its debut in 2013 concurrently with introductions at the Tokyo and Los Angeles auto shows. With 600-horsepower*, it is the most powerful Nissan GT-R ever.

Nissan Named One of the Best Global Brands for 2014

Interbrand, the world-leading brand consultancy, named Nissan one of the world's most valuable brands for 2014. In the Best Global Brands Study, released by Interbrand, Nissan ranked 56, up from 65 in 2013. The study cited the strength of Nissan’s financial performance, product portfolio and leadership position in electric vehicles among the drivers of the company’s brand health. The value of the Nissan brand was estimated at $7.623 billion, an increase from last year's estimated value of nearly $6.2 billion.

Nissan Group Becomes No. 1 Full-Line Manufacturer in EPA’s Annual Fuel Economy Review

Nissan Group is the most fuel efficient full-line automaker in the United States, according to the 2014 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) "Trends" Report. Nissan’s fleet-wide fuel economy rating of 26.2 combined1 mpg was highest among all full-line automakers in the annual report, which is the authoritative reference on new light-duty vehicle carbon dioxide emissions, fuel economy and powertrain technology trends in the United States.

Nissan Engineers Marry a LEAF to a Frontier for use Around the Shop

If necessity is the mother of invention, engineers fuel that fire at Nissan's Technical Center in Stanfield, Arizona. Here engineers are plentiful. They love to build things, test things and tinker with things. This team thinks a lot about "why not?" Recently they created a one-of-a-kind electric vehicle to haul supplies and people around on the tech center property.

Meet "Sparky," as he's known around the campus. It’s a Nissan LEAF crossed with a Nissan Frontier, brought to life by Nissan's Roland Schellenberg and Arnold Moulinet.

Nissan to Unleash GT-R in Bid to Win at Le Mans

Nissan will unleash the GT-R and go head-to-head with Audi, Porsche and Toyota at Le Mans in 2015. The Japanese manufacturer will also contest the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship with a full factory effort of two LM P1 cars. Nissan's LM P1 car will be called the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO, carrying on a sporting bloodline that stretches back 30 years and recognizes the company's flagship road car, the Nissan GT-R.

2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO’s Sky-High Reveal

Fans at the annual ZDayZ gathering in North Carolina had a world-class view of the Great Smokey Mountains, and were among the first to see the 2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO. "This is the most amazing and most beautiful car that I have seen in a very long time. The lines on the car - I love the color accents, the racing seats are perfect, and the steering wheel? That's a very nice touch," said Pamela Robinson, ZDayZ attendee. This was a gathering of hundreds of Nissan, Datsun and NISMO owners and enthusiasts and, according to Nissan, the perfect setting for the debut of this car.

Nissan IDx Concept Tour in Sunny SoCal, and the Fan Base Grows

After debuting in Tokyo and playing in Detroit, the acclaimed Nissan IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO concepts held a three-date tour on the West Coast. It was a super-charged string of venues worthy of the world's biggest rock bands, at least in the auto-enthusiast world.

Nissan Sport Sedan Concept Previews New Nissan Design Signatures in Stunning World Debut

Nissan provided an advanced look at its future design direction with the world debut of the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept during a press conference at the 2014 North American International Auto Show. The stunning Sport Sedan Concept embodies a number of next-generation Nissan design signatures, including V-Motion front aspect, distinctive "floating" roof and boomerang-shaped lamps. The Sport Sedan Concept, a design study with a particular emphasis on next-generation design and sporty style, was created to embody the essence of a true sports sedan – that rare execution of 4-door sedan with the aura of a real sports car. It previews a future production vehicle intended for owners with a passion for cutting-edge design and driving dynamics.
