Nissan Wins Five Marketing Media Innovation Awards

Nissan Altima Making Waves on Canada Day

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. – Nissan took home the Best of Show honour at Marketing's 2012 Media Innovation Awards at the Liberty Grand in Toronto on Thursday night. The award was given for the "Innovation that Excites – Altima Launch" chosen by a jury of 12 leading media and marketing leaders in a category made up of this year's top marketing campaigns.

Staying true to Nissan's tagline, "Innovation that Excites," the Altima 3D Water Show campaign excited judges for demonstrating innovation across a number of media including print, digital, social and experiential. Nissan hosted the water show for the general public in Halifax, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver on Sunday, July 1, 2012. By using 3D Water Screen Projection technology, Nissan showcased the 2013 Altima's dynamic design and performance features with a larger-than-life holographic image in a spectacular diffusion of light and water.

In addition to being declared the Best in Show, Nissan also received a silver award for Best in Newspaper, a gold award for Innovation in Experiential / Special Events / Stunts as well as Best in Cars and Automotive Services all for the "Innovation that Excites – Altima Launch."   For Best use of other Digital Media (including mobile devices) Infiniti was awarded gold for the "Infiniti JX Launch."  Nissan shares these sought-after awards with its media-buying agency, OMD and advertising agency, TBWA which handled the development and execution of the winning campaigns.

"We are so honoured to have our innovative work recognized by one of the most prestigious and important media industry awards programs in Canada," said Judy Wheeler, Director of Marketing at Nissan Canada Inc. "There has never been a more exciting time at Nissan and we are thrilled to continue to share this excitement and connect with customers through ground-breaking, multi-platform marketing initiatives."

Nissan's award-winning marketing campaigns are in support Nissan's strongest product offensive yet. Beginning with the Altima launch this past July, Nissan is set to launch five new products in 15 months.

The Media Innovation Awards were launched in 2000, and honours the great and growing role media plays in the marketing mix and those responsible for the selection, deployment, and implementation of break-through advertising media programs.
