Nissan production, sales and export results for January 2015

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for January 2015.

1. Production

Nissan's global production in January increased 2.0% year-on-year to 438,375 units, marking a record high for the month of January.

Production in Japan increased 4.1% year-on-year to 83,653 units, mainly due to an increase in production volume of the X-Trail for export.

Production outside of Japan increased 1.6% year-on-year to 354,722 units, marking a record high for the month of January.

In the U.S., production decreased 7.4% year-on-year to 72,196 units, mainly due to the impact of a model change and other factors.

In Mexico, production increased 1.7% year-on-year to 69,269 units, marking a record high for the month of January, mainly due to an increase in production volume of the Sentra.

In the U.K., production decreased 5.4% year-on-year to 42,088 units.

In Spain, production decreased 13.3% year-on-year to 11,290 units.

In China, production increased 7.1% year-on-year to 99,387 units, mainly due to an increase in production volume of the X-Trail.

Production in other regions was up 14.6% year-on-year to 60,492 units, mainly due to a net increase in production volume of the Rogue that is produced in South Korea for export to North America.

2. Sales

Global sales increased 9.8% year-on-year to 447,858 units, marking a record high for the month of January.

Sales in Japan, including mini-vehicles, declined 15.7% year-on-year to 56,862 units.

Vehicle registrations in Japan were down 24.6% year-on-year to 33,935 units.

Mini-vehicle sales in Japan increased 2.1% year-on-year to 22,927 units, marking a record high for the month of January, mainly due to higher demand for the DAYZ series.

Sales outside of Japan were up 14.9% year-on-year to 390,996 units, marking a record high for the month of January.

In the U.S., sales increased 15.1% year-on-year to 104,107 units, marking an all-time sales record for the month of January, mainly due to an increase in sales volume of the Sentra and Altima.

In Mexico, sales increased 26.7% year-on-year to 27,508 units, marking an all-time sales record for a single month, mainly due to higher sales volume of the new X-Trail and the March. Nissan has been the sales leader in Mexico for 68 consecutive months.

In Europe, sales increased 24.4% year-on-year to 61,484 units, marking an all-time sales record for the month of January. This is mainly due to an increase in sales volume of the Qashqai and a net increase in sales of the new Pulsar.

In China, sales were up 22.2% year-on-year to 116,376 units, marking an all-time high for the month of January, mainly due to an increase in sales volume of the X-Trail and the Sylphy series.

Sales in other regions decreased 3.5% year-on-year to 74,276 units.

3. Japan Exports

Nissan's exports in January increased 41.3% year-on-year to 46,273 units, mainly due to an increase in export volume of the X-Trail.
