Yesterday, Nissan Canada brought sustainable mobility to ‘la belle province’ with the delivery of Quebec’s first all-electric Nissan LEAF to a retail customer. Guillaume Boudreau took delivery of his black Nissan LEAF SL yesterday at Cité Nissan in Montreal. This groundbreaking moment represents Quebec’s first delivery of a mass market, all-electric car to a retail consumer. As stipulated by the Quebec government, Boudreau and other Nissan LEAF owners are eligible to receive a provincial government rebate of $8,000.

“Yesterday, we celebrated a significant milestone as we delivered the first all-electric Nissan LEAF to a customer in the province of Quebec, a big supporter of electric mobility,” said Judy Wheeler, Director of Marketing at Nissan Canada Inc. “This delivery is proof that the era of sustainable mobility has arrived and at Nissan we’re excited to be leading the way by bringing the world’s first all-electric car to the mass market.”

Boudreau, 33, is a software developer at TouchTunes, a builder of out-of-home digital entertainment systems. He lives in Montreal with his wife Nayiri and their three kids. Their new Nissan LEAF will be the family’s new errand and commuter car.

“When we decided to purchase a new car, we did a lot of research to find something that suited our needs,” said Boudreau. “We already have a hybrid SUV, and its size is perfect for our big family and for long road trips but for our daily commute and errands, the LEAF is the perfect match. Its 160 km range will be more than enough for the weekly routine of daycare, work, errands, kids’ activities and family visits."

Delivery of Model Year 11 Nissan LEAFs will continue in the coming weeks across Canada. On October 22nd, Nissan Canada reopened its online reservation process for its first allocation, 350 units, of Model Year 12 Nissan LEAFs. Reservations are eligible to those who registered on the Nissan LEAF microsite (www.nissan.ca/LEAF) by October 9th and live within the vicinity (65 km) of the 27 EV-certified dealers across Canada. By the end of MY12 Nissan anticipates 600 Nissan LEAFs on Canadian roads.

“We’re thrilled to be the first dealership in Quebec to deliver a Nissan LEAF to a consumer,” said Nazih Chemali, General Manager of Cité Nissan. “A lot of consumers have been curious about the Nissan LEAF so it’s an honour to be the first in Quebec to be able to offer this innovative technology and be at the forefront of the sustainable mobility movement.”
