In keeping with Nissan’s global vision of improving life in the communities in which Nissan operates, and Nissan Canada’s goal of helping improve the quality of life for seniors, The Nissan Canada Foundation has donated a 2012 Nissan NV 3500 S High Roof V8 to Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes (CCCKL).

“We are honoured to support Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes, which is devoted to helping seniors in need by providing affordable and reliable transportation options for seniors in their community,” said Allen Childs, President of Nissan Canada Inc. “With the recent launch of the Nissan NV in Canada, the Nissan Canada Foundation is thrilled to provide this incredible vehicle to help CCCKL’s ability to deliver on its mission of providing services that respect individual choice, dignity and independence.”

For over 25 years, CCCKL has been providing a range of health and community support programs and services designed to promote health for all ages and support independence and quality of life for seniors and special needs clients. These services involve CCCKL providing over 10,000 transfers each year for non-emergency specialized transportation.

The donation of the Nissan NV will allow CCCKL to better respond to the needs of seniors in the community by increasing its number of annual rides by 21 per cent, or 2,100. The Nissan Canada Foundation has been a proud supporter of CCCKL for 12 years.

About the Nissan NV

One of the most researched projects ever in the history of Nissan North America, the 2012 Nissan NV became Nissan’s first entry into the North American commercial vehicle market with its launch in spring, 2011. The Nissan NV is available in three models, NV1500, NV2500 HD and NV3500 HD, and in two roof configurations – Standard Roof and High Roof. The NV is the first commercial van to offer rugged body-on-frame construction combined with a High Roof, offering most users the ability to walk, stand and work in the cargo area.

Powering the rear-wheel drive Nissan NV is a choice of two powerful yet fuel-efficient engines – a 4.0-litre V6 rated at 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, and a 5.6-litre V8 rated at 317 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque. Both are mated to a standard 5-speed automatic transmission. The NV is available in two grades, S and SV, each delivering smart functionality through a combination of the comfort and roominess of a pickup with the utility of a cargo van.

About the Nissan Canada Foundation

Since its inception in 1993, The Nissan Canada Foundation has existed with the aim of improving the quality of life for seniors through programs like Meals on Wheels, and by helping seniors maintain their independence by providing transportation for things such as medical appointments or shopping trips for daily necessities.

In accordance with Nissan’s global vision “To improve the quality of life in the communities in which Nissan operates”, the company elected to focus its charitable initiatives in three areas; the environment, education and humanitarian efforts.

At a local level, this has translated into support for local food banks, like The Mississauga Food Bank, as well as programs such as the Central West Region’s Breakfast Club Program, and a national partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada.

Today, the Nissan Canada Foundation supports over 35 organizations across Canada, to whom it supplies over 50 vehicles totalling over 1.5 million dollars in value; vehicles which help them meet seniors' needs.
